SUNCOR Hospital’s old hand orthopaedic doctor Chirag P. Jain is here with one of the latest orthopaedic immobilization technologies that have the rigidity to hold the fractured part in the perfect position as well as a fascinating perforated mesh structure that provides proper ventilation to the skin that ultimately eliminates sweat and water from the surface of the skin and prevents itching, irritation, bad odor, or any other skin related problems, which are common in conventional one. At SUNCOR, our orthopaedic doctor is proficient in addressing fractures and soft tissue injury associated with the palm, wrist, and forearm using FlexiOH casts for fracture application and provides patients the best comfort and liberty during the treatment too.
What is the process of FlexiOH application?
FlexiOH comes in different sizes ranging from XXS, XS, S, M, L, and XL, so the first thing doctor does is to measure the fractured limb to choose the perfect size as per patient comfort. We apply the best quality foam for cushioning and give extra comfort to pressure points. Once the cushioning is applied, we place the orthopaedic immobilizer on the patient’s limb and close it with the zip provided on both sides. If the patient is comfortable with the fitting of the FlexiOH fitting, a high-intensity uniform blue light (LED) is applied until it gets hardened. The entire process may take 5 to 10 minutes.

What is the process of removing FlexiOH cast?
Once the fracture has healed, you just need to undo the zipper to remove the immobilizer, which is an absolutely easy and pain-free process.
Benefits of FlexiOH cast for fracture application:
- 100% waterproof, wearable in shower, swim, etc.
- Latex-free material, best for allergic people
- Bio-compatible cushioning prevents irritation and provides extra comfort
- Provides good air circulation underneath the cast and prevents skin infection
- Light weight eases routine activities
- Double-side zip ensures quick closing and opening without a saw
How to take care of fiberglass casting?
- Do not penetrate any objects into the cast, it may damage the skin and cause infection
- Do not apply any type of lotion, oil, or powders under the cast, it may cause skin irritation
- Do not put pressure on the casting, it may damage the cast and sometimes leads to injury too.
